This section of the NCT (hiking only) is ideal for those looking for a quick and easy hike. With only +/- 30’ of vertical elevation change along this 4 mile trail segment, there are also a few areas of scenic overlook towards the Hodenpyl Dam Pond. There are also various campsites along the route.

Trail Description

The North Country Trail is part of a 4,600 mile trail network from New York State to North Dakota linking 7 states and 10 national forests and more than 150 public lands. The “NorthernMichiganScenicTrails.org” section of trail consists of 125+ miles of trail maintained by the Grand Traverse Hiking Club, West Michigan Hiking Club and Spirit of the Woods chapters of the North Country Trail Association.
