This section of the NCT (available for hiking and biking is a great First Time route at nearly 5 miles (10 miles round trip) with some moderate elevation changes in select areas (+/-50’ along gradual inclines) Despite some challenging sections, this are is great to explore with some scenic overlooks on the Big Manistee Lake.

Trail Description

The North Country Trail is part of a 4,600 mile trail network from New York State to North Dakota linking 7 states and 10 national forests and more than 150 public lands. The “NorthernMichiganScenicTrails.org” section of trail consists of 125+ miles of trail maintained by the Grand Traverse Hiking Club, West Michigan Hiking Club and Spirit of the Woods chapters of the North Country Trail Association.
